Placings and Awards explained...

As we embark on a new year of shows, here is a summary of how scores, points, and awards are done…

Your Score %:

The scores are based on the performance of your individual tests. Each movement is carefully evaluated by our judges and scored accordingly.

In each test a score is also given for Soft Feel and Harmony & Partnership where you will see these marks count triple and double the scores!

REMEMBER:

The aim of Cowboy Dressage is to beat YOUR OWN previous score %. It is important to remember that it is not about winning, it is about improving your partnership with your horse!

The Placings and the "Ghost Score":

Placings are based on your score % - top 3 scores get placings. To qualify for a placing in a class (1st, 2nd, 3rd…) each rider must score above 65% in their test. This is known as the “Ghost score”.

The Points:

Points are allocated per your placing for each show per horse/rider combination.

These points accumulate throughout the year and go towards end-of-year "Overall High Point Awards".

The more you enter the more points you will accumulate!

How it works:

  1. Points are awarded per class placing: 1st place (10 points), 2nd place (9 points), 3rd (8), 4th (7), 5th (6), 6th (5), 7th (4), 8th (3), 9th (2), 10th (1).

  2. However, the ghost score applies! Cut-off for earning points is 65%, i.e. if you score lower than 65% you don’t receive a place or the associated points. This is to encourage you to beat your own scores at each new show!

  3. Everyone’s points will be recorded throughout the year and go toward the end-of-year "Overall High Point Awards". They will be posted so people can see their rankings throughout the year.

  4. Points per placings will be totaled at the end of the year for each horse/rider combination to determine the "Overall High Point Awards" for the year.

  5. "Overall High Point Awards" are for Walk Jog, Walk Jog Lope, Challenge, Vaquero, Gaited divisions. Separate "Overall High Point Awards" are held for Partnership and Liberty divisions.

That's all for now...
